When you first start your blog, there’s a 100% change you will make SO many mistakes – I started my blogging journey at the end of 2022 with a completely different website name—Crunchy Granola Mama. Let’s just say it wasn’t the vibe I wanted long-term!

The key to my blogging success has been perseverance – having the mindset of believing in my business, staying consistent, and pushing through the challenges.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Blogging
There are many advantages and disadvantages of blogging, the advantage of blogging far outweighs the disadvantages.
It is so important to take the time to write out your own list of advantages and disadvantages based on your personal goals.
Ask yourself: What do you expect in the long term from your blog? Is it to create more resources for learning a skill, such as a cookbook or creating a course? Or is your goal to share your methods and experiences with others for fun?
Clarifying these expectations will help you stay focused and motivated as you navigate the ups and downs of blogging.
Identify Your Reason
How do you envision your blog impacting others or your life?
For me, the advantage of blogging is the time freedom it offers in the long term, sharing delish recipes with goals of publishing our cookbook, sharing our favorite products, hiking adventures and creating passive income while sharing how starting a mom blog has changed my life.
Realizing that I didn’t have to pursue the traditional 9-5 grind and could create a flexible work schedule was the icing on the cake for me.
When I first started my blog, making money wasn’t my main focus—I was simply doing it for fun.
My advice, especially as an entrepreneurship mom, is to start your blog as a fun hobby.
There’s a steep learning curve, and you’ll need to be patient and persistent.
Building something meaningful takes time and grit. Focusing on enjoying the process makes the journey more rewarding.
My blog has truly become a labor of love. I refine my skills often, setting goals, keeping track of analytics and always seeking ways to improve.

Selecting a niche begins with identifying your passions, skills, and the problems you can solve for your target audience.
Think about what excites you and aligns with your expertise. Research your potential audience to find areas with demand but less competition—this is where the benefit of niche marketing shines.
Here are some popular niche ideas to inspire your blogging or content creation:
- Health and Wellness: Supplements, fitness programs, home gym equipment.
- Parenting and Family: Baby gear, toddler toys, educational resources.
- Personal Finance: Budgeting tools, credit repair services, investing apps.

- Food and Cooking: Specialty ingredients, cookware, meal prep kits.
- Travel: Luggage, travel insurance, booking platforms, travel gear.

Niching down is difficult but required
Starting out, I knew I wanted to share recipes, but I also dreamed of writing about hiking, blogging tips, my photography, some toddler activities, our favorite products, and our van build.
Basically, I was heading toward a full-on lifestyle brand.
However, starting a mom blog, you really need to niche down to find your audience.
How niche is too niche
By narrowing your focus, you can connect more deeply with your audience, establish authority, and stand out in a crowded market. A well-defined niche helps attract loyal followers and creates opportunities for growth, making your content or product more impactful and profitable.
Consider your audience size and the potential for year-round engagement.
If your niche is seasonal, it could limit your monetization options due to a lack of consistent content ideas. To find balance, avoid being overly specific.
An example would be instead of toddler Christmas activities you can market for toddler activities and change this idea to a rewards system instead of having a seasonal pin.
Aesthetic blogging is like a puzzle—each piece fits perfectly in time.
I started blogging to make that a reality, and now I’m so excited to share how moms make money blogging and turn their passions into something bigger.
Define your audience
Who are you writing for? Stay-at-home moms, entrepreneurs, foodies, travelers?
I wanted to share it all—recipes, toddler learning activities, products, local hikes, and blogging tips. But I quickly learned that niching down is the key to growing a loyal audience faster.
I wanted my work at home mom blog to truly work for me—a business I could create, nurture, and make successful on my own terms.
By focusing on building a blog that aligned with my passions and exploring creative passive income ideas for moms, I turned my vision into a reality that supports my lifestyle and goals.
Some may ask, is blogging dead?
Blogging is far from dead! In fact, it’s evolving, and there’s never been a better time for starting a mom blog or diving into amateur blogging. While the blogging world may feel saturated, there’s always room for unique voices and fresh perspectives.
After some time, you realize you run into a lot of repeat information, I knew it was time to invest in myself by investing in education.
Burn out is real and as the saying goes, “if you’re not growing, you’re standing still.”
There’s nothing worse than standing still and always wondering, ‘What if?’ What if I hadn’t taken the leap and started this blogging business? I’d still be dreaming about the possibilities instead of living them.
