My crunchy granola recipe has always been one of my favorite treats to add to yogurt, a parfait or just that good to eat by the handful – it’s such a simple recipe with low sugar and you can jazz it up as much as you’d like!

My recipe is only 7 ingredients and very basic but tasty. You can of course adjust the ingredients to your preference, but the main ingredients are Old fashioned oats, a neutral oil, a sweetener, nuts, dried fruit or my favorite – chocolate chips.

Is granola healthy?

Making homemade granola is literally the best, cheapest and guarantees NO added ingredients your unaware of such as the sugars, oils or fats.

Depending upon the ingredients used, granola is calorie dense as well as rich in protein, fiber and micronutrients. It can also provide iron, magnesium, zinc, copper, selenium, B & E vitamins.

Other potential health benefits:

Antioxidants- Such as coconut, chia seeds, Brazil nuts are good sources of inflammation fighting antioxidants.

Improve Gut Health- Increases the levels of healthy gut bacteria.

Reduce Glucose- Whole grains, dried fruit nuts and seeds help reduce blood sugar levels.

Improve Blood Pressure- High fiber ingredients like oats and flax seeds have shown to reduce blood pressure

How to eat granola?

I eat granola by the handful, with a spoon! You can of course add it to your yogurt or a parfait with berries – yum.

To achieve really good clumps press down on the finished granola before it cools and avoid jostling the pan, until its cool completely.
